Introverted Perceiving:
Si/Ni are about time-series data, while Se/Ne are about cross-sectional data. Time-series data follows changes to one entity at different points in time, like a trend. Meanwhile cross-sectional data looks and compares several entities at a certain point in time.
Si follows real trends, trusts actual data points, and either performs a regression or an impression of historical data. Si is linked to past data, memories, tradition, progression, and impression because of this.
Ni creates new trends, is suspicious of actual data points and agreed-upon connections. It starts with an ideal future to find steps that create a trend and go there. Hidden meanings, opinions, ideals, being future-oriented, all suggests Ni creates or foresees new trends.
Extroverted Perceiving:
Se and Ne focus on a certain point in time. Se gathers many details, is realistic, and it's survival/reaction/competition/control focused. Ne also focuses on a certain point in time, but is skeptic or opinionated about it, so it suggests alternatives, new perspectives, and diversions. Ne is called creative or fantasizing exactly because of this.
Perceiving Functions Dichotomy:
The above definitions for Si/Ni and Se/Ne cover the entire spectrum of time-stamped data. Real historical trends, ideal future-oriented trends, real details about present moment, and possible alternatives to the present moment. We have divided the entire space of possibilities using binary definitions, and made sure we cover all of it. Perception is data, data is time-stamped, time-stamped data is either time-series or cross-sectional, and we are either trusting it or being suspicious/opinionated about it.

Data that follows a trend is by definition internal, as some data points must exist or imagined from the past or for the future to be able to envision that trend. If we are focusing on historical data and creating impressions and regressions, we are engaged in introverted sensing (Si). If we are focusing on desired outcome and extrapolating to find data that leads to it, we are engaged in introverted intuition (Ni)
Si observes trends and repetition in historical data. When data is about the same object in different points in time, Si creates impressions. When data is about a changing object, Si creates regressions and predictions. To create best predictions, Si gathers, catalogs, and processes data repeatedly, resulting in expertise. Si is mostly oriented towards the past and what has been, and so it is more realistic.

Ni starts with a desired or ideal outcome, and extrapolates to find data that supports that outcome or leads to it. When outcome is imagined, Ni finds or suggests trends that lead to it. Ni can also combine seemingly unrelated trends to find possible hidden trends, players, or agendas. Ni is mostly oriented towards the future and what should be, and so it is more idealistic.

Cross-sectional data refers to a certain point in time, so it doesn't necessarily need internal data points to serve as reference, and can focus on external reality/possibilities. If we are focusing on real details we are engaged in extroverted sensing (Se). If instead we are perceiving possibilities instead of reality, we are engaged in extroverted intuition (Ne).
Se is a reactive perceiving function. It gathers many details about objects in the present moment, in order to better co-exist, handle, control, or compete in real time. Any performance activity, be it arts or music or sports, benefit from your brain being ready to react to present moment criteria, and the details Se can gather, recall, and handle. It doesn't explore other possibilities, therefore can react to reality better than what Ne could.

Ne is a creative perceiving function. It creates many possibilities using similarities and resemblances in connection to the objects in the present moment. Any creative activity, be it in arts or sciences, benefit from your brain being ready to perceive many perspectives around the object as well as alternatives to the object. It's slow and sloppy to react compared to Se, but Ne can explore new angles in reality and in fantasy beyond what Se could.

Identifying an object is an internal judging function. It can be done by finding similarities and relations that the object has with other objects, which is called introverted thinking (Ti), or by contrasting the object against others and focusing on the ways the object is unique and special which is called introverted feeling (Fi).

Interacting with objects is an external judging function. It can be done in a critical and harsh manner using facts and radical change which is extroverted thinking (Te), or in an accepting and soft manner using connections and incremental change which is extroverted feeling (Fe).
